Jump Start on Christmas Cards

In sorting through some of my scrap stuff from last year I have found plenty of "extra" christmas cards...thought I would share a few of the ideas here.

I used the Just Chillin' paper pack and "Chillin" stampset to create these gift tags and cards last year.

These cards are created using the "Let us Adore Him" stampset and Everlasting Paper Pack with a little cranberry ribbon.

COASTing

I have become a part of this email group of ladies who are helping me prepare for the Christmas season...CHRIST OVER ALL the SEASON'S THEME-ING through the Christmas Season! So, I am a little bit behind, but still not too far to start now. During week 1 we were to "Get Organized", Begin looking out for good buys and recipes to share, and Simplify my house keeping...I am going to do digital organization for now before preparing a fun scrapbook and I begin sharing this adventure with all my readers. :) I will try and post recipes, etc. here as well when they come through my inbox. As for simplifying my house keeping...I try to keep up with picking up after the kids, but my kitchen and bathroom seem to be forgotten in the process. Today all is clean! The kids are in bed...Josiah is still talking/singing (but on his way to sleepy town). Now it is time for me to start on week 2! Prepare my Christmas card list, Get a "wishlist" from the fam, gathering leftover holiday wrap (we store ours all in one place since last year...CHECK), and get out the Christmas music (don't have much and not really sure where it is). So, if you choose join me! Leave a comment and I will post in more details each weeks challenges so you too can become prepared for the Christmas Season without waiting till the last minute!

Update!

WOW! I cant believe it has been a month since I updated my blog...well yes I can. Time seems to be extremely busy! Between my 4 part-time jobs and being a full time mommy I don't seem to have much time to be on the computer.
CTMH Update:
I am so excited that God is truly blessing my little scrap business as my club year has exploded and I have at least two if not three workshops a month!
Swimming:
I am on a current break from teaching swim lessons, but find myself subbing more than being off...hmmm...looking forward to continuing to teach. I love the kids and really love to watch the light bulb go on as they learn to swim. :)
School:
I am down to just 2 days a week for 4 1/2 hours a day so it isn't that bad and the kids are so fun and I really enjoy it.
Time for bed and praying Maggi sleeps tonight!

Blog Hop!

Welcome to our Close to my Heart Summer 2009 Idea Book Blog Hop! Over 40 Close to my Heart Consultants are celebrating the upcoming release of the Summer 2009 Idea Book by sharing their amazing creations using new products via their blogs. If you have come here from Dawn's blog, you are on the right path! If this is your first stop, you may want to go back to Erin's blog <http://www.tazzygirl2000.blogspot.com/> and start from the beginning!"
This is simple do to- just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one! Here we go!

I was "tickled pink" when I received the National Scrapbook Month Campaign and knew I had just the pictures. Using the templates found in the kit I was able to create 4 stunning pages that really capture the moments that I will cherish for a lifetime. I not only was able to begin my All About Me album, but the second layout helped me really capture the birth of our second child, Maggi.

I love these colors for her baby pages, but these papers are timeless and the stamp set is one I will use over and over again. You can see in a past post that I used the stamp set to create a card for a good friend of mine.

Technique: I was able to use the die-cuts in the create these beautiful 3D paper embellishments as well as second generation stamping on my title, "so happy". I used the foam tool found in the kit to add a little ink to the sides of my title as well to help it really stand out.

Materials: Tickled Pink Kit; Ink Colors:Blush, Crystal Blue, and Black; White Daisy Mini-Melodies Accent Kit

Now "Hop" on over to Helen's blog http://www.hookedonstamping.com/ to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great crafting ideas and see the great new Paper Packs and My Acrylix Stamp Sets! Remember, the Summer 2009 Idea Book goes LIVE on May 1st!

Just a few notes...

Tomorrow begins an insane week! From sub-ing, my "sister's" wedding, and scrapbooking I will have little time for much else.

I am sure everyone is loving this warm weather. We finally got to have a pictures taken by Ami and Alison Photography yesterday...long sleeves and 80 degree weather don't really mix, but they assured me we would have some good pics. Should have a few to post in the next week or two. Tonight we also got to enjoy time with some good friends for dinner and playing in the backyard with the kids.

I thought since I had been posting mainly scrapbook pages I would showcase these simple cards. Just a little cardstock and the "Life's a Jungle" Stamp set will put a smile on anyone's face.

Materials: Olive Cardstock and Ink, Black Ink, and a cardbase.

Materials: Goldrush Cardstock and Ink, Black Ink, and a cardbase.

Inside of card reads: You're the best!

Materials: Indian Corn Blue Cardstock and Ink, Black Ink, Olive Ink, Spot on backgrounds Stamp set and a cardbase.

Technique of the Week

Sorry life seems to be moving faster than I can keep up. Sad thing is it is spring break so I am only working 2 of my 5 part time jobs. Any who!I used three sheets of card stock and my acrylix stamps to make my own pattern paper. Using the coordinating Exclusive Ink Pads: Hollyhock, sweetleaf, and desert sand and two circles from "Its a party" and "solo j" I created this pattern paper to highlight this one photo layout.
1. Ink up the circles and random stamp on colonial white cardstock.
2. Cut the cardstock in a 2 x 12 inch strip and 2 1.5 x 1.5 squares.
3. Cut a 1.5 x 1.5 square for the date from colonial white and stamp the date or small title. I used "Classmates Alphabet and Chocolate alphabet for the numbers.
4. Embellish! I also used one of the exclusive "clear shapes"and some hollyhock twill ribbon attached to the photo matt using two garden green brads :)
Enjoy!

It has been a crazy week!

We decided that we would throw an impromptu yard sale this morning so we have most things that are my blog sale in our front yard right now. We are also in the mist of some major spring cleaning (hints the yard sale). Mag has almost mastered sitting up on her own and I know it won't be long that she will just begin to take off. If her arms would get a little stronger she would so be on the move!
In other news I won the free photo session with Ami and Alison Photography during their Easter Traditions Contest. Read my entry: Growing up in Oak Ridge, TN near most of my immediate family brought a lot of family gatherings during the holidays. Each year we helped my "Maw" decorate for each holiday season from Christmas lights to Easter Trees not a celebration was left undecorated. But it wasn't all about the decorations. Every year at Easter the big dogwood tree in her backyard seemed to welcome in the season. And each year on Easter Sunday after going to church and celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ we would gather in the back yard for a family photo in front of the dogwood tree. The same year my Maw died so did that tree, but the tradition lives on. My sons first Easter we were able to find a dogwood tree just a few apartments down from our own here in Cleveland. But last year since Easter was so early we were unable to continue that tradition. I want to find a dogwood tree this year so that my daughter can become a part of that tradition. This is one my favorite childhood Easter traditions that I want to continue for years to come.
